WEDDING TRENDS 2024
The wedding industry has continued to evolve constantly over the past year.
As a wedding photographer working at the forefront of the scene, I’m well placed to tell you this. Couples are increasingly influenced by social networks and are more creative than ever.
There’s no shortage of ideas! Here are, in my opinion, the trends for this year 2024.
Wedding documentary
The style of a wedding documentary refers to a photographic or videographic approach that captures events naturally and unobtrusively. It focuses on open moments, emotions and the authentic storytelling of the wedding day, aiming to tell a genuine and heartfelt story. This style minimizes staged shots, favors spontaneous and real interactions, and ensures a more authentic and personal portrayal of the couple’s special day.
True-to-color
In wedding photography, “true-to-color” refers to the accurate reproduction of the colors present in the scene without distortion. A photographer aiming for faithful color rendering ensures that the hues and tones in the final images match those in reality. This approach is important to capture the authentic atmosphere and aesthetic of the wedding and to make sure the bride’s dress, the floral arrangements, and other elements appear as they do in natural light. Faithful color reproduction enhances the overall authenticity and visual appeal of the
Analog Photography
Analog photography is often valued in the wedding photography industry for its unique and timeless aesthetic.
Couples may choose analog photography for several reasons:
Vintage appeal: Analog photography with film cameras can create a vintage, nostalgic look that some couples find charming and distinctive.
Artistic quality: Compared with digital photography, film often offers a different texture, color palette, and dynamic range. Some couples appreciate the artistic and authentic atmosphere that film brings to their wedding images.
Intimacy and patience: Analog photography requires a more deliberate and measured approach, fostering a sense of intimacy and patience during the shooting process. This can lead to more considered and carefully composed images.
Unique results: Each roll of film has its own characteristics, and unexpected results can occur, producing truly one-of-a-kind photographs.
The resurgence of analog photography in wedding photography may be part of a broader trend
Direct flash photography
The direct-flash trend in wedding photography involves pointing a flash directly at the subject. This technique produces a distinctive, often bold look with clearly defined shadows and highlights. Photographers who use direct flash aim to achieve a contemporary and dynamic style that emphasizes the subject and gives the images a sense of drama. While traditional wedding photography often avoids direct flash to prevent harsh light, this trend deliberately uses directness for a modern and striking aesthetic.
Weddings outside the traditional season
Couples may choose to plan weddings outside the traditional summer season for several reasons. One important factor is cost savings, as venues and vendors often offer lower rates during the off-season. Additionally, scheduling a wedding in fall, winter, or spring provides more flexibility with dates and can increase vendor availability.
Some couples appreciate the distinctive atmosphere and aesthetic each season offers. Fall weddings, for example, can showcase picturesque foliage, while winter ceremonies may feel cozy and festive. Planning outside the summer also avoids
Champagne towers
The concept of a champagne tower at weddings is a classic and elegant tradition. Champagne glasses are stacked in a pyramid shape and champagne is poured into the top glass to create a cascading effect. In the context of wedding photography, capturing moments around the champagne tower can add a touch of glamour and festivity to the visual narrative. The trend may lead to creative compositions and viewpoints that highlight the elegance and celebratory character of this ritual, contributing to a timeless and joyful aesthetic in wedding photo albums. Soap Bubbles
As environmental concerns become increasingly present and affect us all directly, throwing flower petals or rice into the air is no longer a suitable option in 2024. Many municipalities have also banned these practices, so please check local regulations. The solution is to use soap bubbles. Simple, effective, ecological — and the results are beautiful. Be careful, however, with your eyes
